23 September 2019 – South Africa – Newcomer Soweto Born Singer, Songwriter; Bonj performs in New York at the annual UN General Assembly.
Recording artist Bonj, who is signed to Tresor’s Jacquel Music Group, is having an incredible year. Earlier this year, she released successful single Against The Grain with DJ Zinhle and later was invited to perform on the South African leg of Sam Smith’s Thrill of it All tour in April.
She recently in New York to speak at the UN’s Social Good Summit and to perform at the UN General Assembly. Now in its tenth year, the Social Good Summit brings together leading thinkers – activists, politicians, scientists, diplomats, artists, and more; for a day of inspired conversation on how we can all help our global community achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the target year of 2030. These goals seek to improve the quality of life for all people, lifting up everyone and leaving no one behind.
This year’s Summit will focus on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) with a particular focus this year on climate change and its intersections with the SDGs.
Soweto’s Bonj performed in front of a live audience in New York to show her support to The Lion’s Share Fund – a fund hosted by the United Nations Development Programme created to tackle the crisis in biodiversity.
An excited Bonj had this to say about performing at the assembly, “I have spent the last year refocusing my energy on what matters to me. My mental & physical health, my family, my partner and my community and by extension my legacy. I realize that only through personal responsibility can we see a collective change. I have committed myself and am excited & proud to announce that I will be speaking & performing at the 10th Social Good Summit, where I’ll join my fellow global citizens in sounding the alarm on climate change.”
